Dana Plato (November 7, 1964 - May 8, 1999) was an actress who is remembered for playing Kimberly Drummond on the hit sitcom, Diff'rent Strokes.
Dana is also remembered for her activities as a real life villainess, mainly robbing a Las Vegas video store on February 28, 1991. On the night in question, Dana entered the video store and held up the clerk with a pellet gun, after which she demanded the money from the cash register. She got away with the cash ($164), but she was arrested at the scene 15 minutes later, after she returned to the store to retrieve her sunglasses. Dana was sentenced to five years' probation, but in January 1992, Dana was arrested for forging a prescription for diazepam--a violation of her probation. She received a 30 day jail sentence, and entered rehab.
Dana's acting career continued until her death at the age of 34 on May 8, 1999. She died of an overdose of prescription drugs, with the death being ruled a suicide.
